Pete has kindly contributed his song 'Grassroots Sustainable Futures' to the 'Earth Stars' CD. He lives, works and occasionally remembers to play at Steward Community Woodland, on Dartmoor (for photos, newsletters, out of date diary entries and more, visit their website).
He's been playing guitars for about a decade, and is also learning / struggling / experimenting with an accordion, penny whistles and a djembe. Recently he also found himself playing a couple of crisp packets at a jam.
He has been immersed in permaculture ever since going to the first Natty Gathering at Brickhurst farm in August 1998, where he did his Permaculture Design Course. After a few years building benders and carrying things up the hill in the rain at Steward Community Woodland he was further inspired by a design course that ran there to carry on to the Permaculture Diploma, which he started last December (2003).
He writes songs less and less infrequently. Looking back recently he found he had quite a few, and he recorded a lot of them with Aranya at Paddox Farm alongside 'Grassroots Sustainable Futures'; his contribution here. They may appear on the Steward Wood website some day soon, and if you ask, he may get round to making you a copy of his 'Stickered Guitar EP', which will probably also contain the popular 'Living in a Bender' song; the accoustic anarchist update of a disco classic 'We Will Survive'; the 'Lyminge Forest Victory Song' and a few other whimsical tracks about forest dreams, hitch hiking to Romania and pricing fence posts. Alternatively you could arrange to come and visit Steward Community Woodland and badger him to play them 'round an evening fire.
Feedback on any of the songs, especially positive, is welcomed - email it to Pete at his email address below....
His favourite colour is variable, he likes charity shops, borage flowers and tree shapes, he has recently written a finger-in-your-ear-folk song about his woodstove, and needs to go and have lunch now before the community business meeting starts.
