Dragonsfly

Dragonsfly

Dragonsfly have kindly contributed their song 'The River' to the 'Earth Stars' CD. They are an inimitable union of acoustic musicians who weave together instruments as diverse as hurdy-gurdy, mandolin, tabla, electric bass, bouzouki & saxophones, and are fronted by the distinctive & rare talent of lead vocalist & bagpiper Maya Preece. The line up includes Cliff Stapleton (ex Blowzabella), Daygan Robinson, Nathan Williams, Tom Simenauer (Goma, Krishna Das), Duncan Moss (Shave the Monkey) & Thrisha Haldar.

This vibrant & original band interlace new & old songs, instrumentals & dance pieces inspired by their personal experiences & musical backgrounds, ranging from Celtic to Eastern, medieval to contemporary rock. The result is a musical landscape of groove driven music that is passionate, high energy, tender & entrancing. The music celebrates community & the spirit of the land, enchanting the audience to sing, dance & be stirred.

The band has made its mark at many UK festivals including Glastonbury, The Big Green Gathering & Quest, as well as playing concerts to a dedicated following across the UK. Dragonsfly members have also worked on solo projects with other artists, including Daevid Allen, Rory McLeod, Page & Plant, Eliza Carthy, Paul Weller, Shiela Chandra & Billy Bragg.

Dragonsfly recorded their first album 'Dragonsfly' in 2000 & their second CD is due for release in Summer 2004. So if you'd like to hear more of their music, check out their web pages!
