Anglo-Belgian Blues Alliance
The Anglo-Belgian Blues Alliance have kindly contributed their song 'Ecoforest Baby Blues' to the 'Earth Stars' CD. They currently perform more as a teaching duo (at Ecoforest, Spain, with plans for a first Belgian PDC ‘gig’ sometime in the future) - than a musical duo … but who knows what the future might hold!
'Ecoforest Baby Blues' was a song that was originally written by Wim Bommerez & Simon Shakespeare for a cabaret evening after the first Ecoforest permaculture course in September 2001. It has remained an Ecoforest classic on permaculture courses since then; the lyrics being expanded in the (rainy) autumn of 2003 by Wim & Steve Charter (who perform it on the CD). It is their first hit, but many more Ecoforest permaculture songs and Anglo-Belgian cooperations are still to come!
Or so they say......
Steve is a permaculture teacher (and tutor to apprentice Pc teachers), co-founder of Ecoforest eco-education project and community in southern Spain; permaculturist and raw fooder for 10 years; author of 'Eat More Raw', enthusiastically published by Permanent Publications, and described by one reviewer (not the author!) as ‘certainly the best book on health, ecology and sustainability ever written.’ He is also a music lover.... On contributing to 'Earth Stars' he wrote:
"This is my first recording. Singing and strumming at Ecoforest in the communal house on winter’s evenings, and in my old army surplus tent, I hope I may have some offerings for ‘Earth Stars 2’, 3 … and 23 albums.
To me permaculture is a set of practical tools, techniques and principles for designing sustainable and naturally healthy lifestyles – and I feel we do have to look at creating health as a key part of people care, earth care and fair shares. And as Andy Langford also said, it is also a means of liberating the masses from capitalist (and other forms of) oppression … whilst having a lot of fun, and making some really great friendships along the way. It gives us a positive system, it gives us hope, and it is a key component of the emerging culture of change … As this CD demonstrates permaculture is about so much more than just the garden."
