These pages are dedicated to bringing more music into permaculture; by using it in teaching this important subject, by raising funds for groups & projects through the sales of benefit CDs & by helping to get permaculture-minded musicians heard.

Some of the musicians featured here are already well known; through gigging regularly or having already released CDs of their own. Others are just getting started or make music purely as a hobby. All have something important to share & are driven in their lives by their love of this beautiful Earth.

You can contribute your ideas about the use of music in teaching permaculture & help in the development of this site....

History:
The Permaculture Musicians project was born after I heard a great song with specifically permaculture lyrics, being performed at a gathering in 2001. Ironically, it has yet to be recorded & so isn't included on the first compilation of songs; 'Earth Stars'... but maybe it will make it onto a second compilation?.... Andy??

At that time I reasoned that there may be many such songs out there & so I set about collecting them together with a view to ultimately using them to help us in teaching permaculture creatively. However, over time it became apparent that there were also a whole host of talented musicians around who were keen to donate their existing songs to help raise funds for permaculture.... & so 'Earth Stars' was born.

'Earth Stars':
Some of the songs on 'Earth Stars' are specifically about permaculture, some express a love for this beautiful planet, others are more philosophical. All though have their source in the ethics of permaculture; Earth care, People care & Fair shares for all. In bringing the compilation together I've become amazed at all the musical talent out there & I hope that you get to enjoy these songs as much as I do....

If you think of any other musicians who should also be heard, please get in touch. I already know of several songs that haven't made it onto 'Earth Stars' for various reasons but could be ready in time for a follow up.... I sense that a second CD may be not far away, but there's plenty to enjoy here in the meantime - including yavanna's beautiful artwork which she has so kindly donated for the cover of the CD. Take my advice & check out more of her work on her own website too.
